DPN's (dermatosis papulosa nigra) are non-viral, wart-like lesions that run in families. They are benign. DPNs are usually asymptomatic, but can sometimes itch or become painful, usually due to trauma. People refer to them as facial "moles" however, DPNs are not moles or nevi.
Getting rid of DPNs involves cleansing the face, applying topical numbing cream, dehydrating them with high frequency. Moisturizer is then applied to the area being treated and the patient can go home.
